A GROUP of Tavistock Guiders recently attended the Devon Girl Guides' County Ball held in Exeter to mark 100 years of Girlguiding.

The women all lead or help with units within Tavistock District and between them have notched up an amazing 150 years of experience with the Girl Guides.

Joint District Commissioner Janet Piper said: 'We still get a lot out of working with the girls and some of us have been lucky enough to travel to some stunning countries through Guiding — Scandinavia, Mexico, Switzerland.

'Zoe was part of the successful Girlguiding world record for the highest tether of the Girlguiding hot air balloon on Everest. Guiding is all about opportunities - for us leaders as well as the girls! You could do a lot worse than volunteer with the Guides for some excitement.'
