OKEHAMPTON Tennis Club's Men's A team just scraped through against Willand on Friday night.
Dan Arnot and Andy Herrod-Taylor lost their first match of the season against Willand's first pairing.
After losing a close first set, Okehampton got back into the match to level at one set all, and in a close fought championship tie break and a couple of very close line calls going against them, Dan and Andy eventually lost their unbeaten record 6-4, 4-6, 7-10. In their second match against Willand's second pair, they came through in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-3.
Paul Love and Adam Richards came through a scare in their match against Willand's second pair.
After winning the first set comfortably they also found themselves 4-0 up in the second set, but they then lost the next five games and were preparing themselves for a championship tie break to settle the match. However they managed to regain control and took the next three games to win the match 6-2, 7-5. Paul and Adam then struggled against Willands first pairing and failing to win any of the big points, went down 2-6, 3-6.
The overall result of 5-4 to Okehampton means the team maintains its 100% win record this season.
