Bumper crop of entries at village flower show

 STOKE Climsland Flower Show defied recent weather and proved a success, with entries up overall on last year.
The sun shone for the event last Saturday, which had more vegetable entries than organisers were expecting.
The flower, craft and produce show had entries from cauliflowers to cross stitch, and photos to fudge. The Launceston Town Band entertained and there was a circus workshop with Passing Showers, together with face painting. The teas on offer sold out.
The show also marked the retirement of show secretary Ann Craig, who had been secretary for 39 years. She was presented with a bouquet to mark the occasion by show chairman Martin Barnes.
Prize winners were: Maltman Cup for most points in photography, L Dodge and P Marks; Rosemary Hoare Cup for most points in art classes, Elizabeth White; Beryl Phoenix Trophy, Brian Champness; William Joll Cup for family with most entries, the Hoare family; Sam Philp Cup for best entry in local and open vegetable and flower classes, Tina Cox; Cornwall Certificate of Merit for best entry, Tina Cox; Phillips Cup for most points in the show, Tina Cox.
Local and open domestic classes: Burleigh Cup for most points in local cookery classes, Katherine Hoare; Committee Cup for most points in open cookery classes, Stephen Gerry; Jenny Jackman Memorial Cup for preserves class, Katherine Hoare; Neale Cup for most points in dairy classes, Molly Jackets; Seymour Cup for most points in confectionary classes, Ann Craig; D Phillips Cup for most points in wine classes, Jenny Llewellyn; Wine Cup for best entry in wine classes, Jenny Llewellyn; prize money for best cider, Richard Vulliamy.
Local and open vegetable cups: R Dingle Cup for most points in local vegetable classes, Tina Cox; D Parry Davis Cup for best collection of vegetables, Alan Parker; J Lightfoot Cup for most points in potato classes, Alan Parker; Hitchens Perpetual Cup for open vegetable classes, Tina Cox; Dymond Cup for most points in fruit classes, Jenny Llewellyn.
Needlework in local and open classes: Rundle Cup for local needlework, Mrs Ablard; Phillips Cup for best needlework in local needlework class five, Miriam Wright; Gladys Benney Cup for open needlework classes, Barbara Wharton; Mrs Kitt Cup for best exhibit in open needlework classes, Jane Garbutt.
Children’s classes: Sandercock Cup for most points in section seven, Chloe Leonard-Williams; Committee Cup for runner-up in section seven, Katie Sycamore; Jim Dingle Cup for best entry in section 7, Holly Nevill and Daniel Rawles; Trewartha Cup for most points in section 14, Thomas Barriball; Gimblett Cup for best junior photograpy, Harry Sycamore; prize money for Beryl Phoenix Trophy, Olivia Rawles.
Garden cups: Coad Cup for large gardens, Mr and Mrs M Cox; Crittall Cup for best kept garden by a pensioner, Mr and Mrs Worth; J Lightfoot Cup for best vegetable garden, Derek Ross; Perpetual Cup given by Rev R Chudley for best small garden, Sue Tudor; White Rose Nursery Cup for best hanging basket, Dee Eason; N and C Ashmore Cup for best planted container, John Burn.
Local and open flower cups: Canon Andrews Cup for most points in local flower classes, Betty Sands; prize money for runner-up in local flower classes, Derek Ross; Uglow Cup for open flower classes, Sheila Bond; Pellow Cup for most points in local floral art classes, Marcia and Dave Ricketts, Carolyn Hammond; Mr and Mrs Willcocks Cup for most points in open floral art classes, Rosemary Evely.
