As a fully qualified personal trainer, with a BSc in Sports Conditioning and Coaching, my many years of experience have allowed me to construct and continuously adapt the most effective and practical way to lose weight and improve fitness and health, which goes against most mainstream media fitness advice. My love of health and fitness started from an early age, playing many different sports while growing up. After college I decided to pursue my interest in fitness, obtaining my BSc from Hartpury College. From there, I completed a Diploma in Personal Training, which entitled me to become a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals. My continued fitness education ranges from small UK workshops to attending functional training summits and seminars in California. I train a diverse range of clients, creating specialised plans to cater for each individual’s health and fitness goals. The fitness industry can be tainted with gimmicks — it’s my job to guide and teach my clients the best, safest and most practical ways to reach their goals. Sports massage doesn’t just have to be for the sports performers among you, a deep tissue massage can be of benefit to anyone suffers from aches and pains from their job or everyday life. Sciatic pain - symptoms of sciatica can be greatly reduced by deep tissue massage - by reducing the tension in the muscles in your lower back and gluts. So often it is the small movement which proves to be the final straw and our backs “go”! Actually the problem has quite often been building up for a while, unbeknown to us. Our muscles tighten through being used repetitively and always in the same way, and also through our habitual postures and habits. Sometimes we are under stress and tighten ourselves up physically to deal with what is going on around us. Whatever the cause of the problem originally, we get to the point where one slightly unconscious movement causes untold pain and discomfort in our backs. Days of work lost through back pain are common.
So, what to do? If you know the tension in your muscle is building I can loosen and free them with deep massage and give you a couple of simple exercises to maintain more flexibility. If the unfortunate has happened and you are in pain, the same applies. Using deep tissue release I break the spasm cycle and then over a few sessions we deal with the underlying tension. I aim to equip my clients with more understanding of their body and how they move so that painful events are less likely to happen again.
