7th Devon FA Son-Rise Cup for Autism Football
The 7th Devon FA Son-Rise Cup for Autism Football Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday 19th. 20th .May at Tavistock Community FC , Tavistock AFC and Tavistock Community Sports Centre. Under the FA Respect banner we hope to put a smile on footballs face and see the people taking part have a great time in a competition that has grown so fast it has two committees running it! The heart of the event is about disability football but everyone who likes our National game played in Devon is involved as this event takes on new ground by hoping to be the biggest football event in the West of England . About 23 Devon FA Referees will be officials over the weekend all sponsored by Mansbridge & Balment and they will be briefed to ensure the event runs smoothly for all who take part. With the fantastic sporting facilities in Tavistock we will give the teams and supporters an event to be proud of! To think when this cup first started it was to help one little autistic boy with his communication skills and now we are helping so many children and young adults in our area have a more normal and better life it is truly inspiring. In the 2012 Olympic year with the games being in our own Country , we have our own Heather Fell becoming the Patron of the festival , what could be better? The Men’s Devon FA Trophy has a cash prize for the winners and runners up and will be played for all in one day, 7aside with the final being refereed by a Championship Official. There will also be a special Respect award to the player who plays the highest standard of football and who’s behaviour on and off the pitch is a credit to the game. This cup has been donated by the Acton family who have dedicated it to the memory of Stephen Acton , a Tavistock lad, who died at the age of 38 years in June 2011. There will be new tournaments and matches this year for disabled footballers and we hope everyone who attends will get a chance to see these wonderful people taking part and enjoying their football. On another note the Son-Rise Cup committee, led by Chairman Rob Rich from ‘’I love Candy‘’ sweet shop would like to thank all the local businesses for their support as without them the event could not take place. A big thanks must also go to Plymouth based Ocean BMW who have given such a positive input to making this event a success. We look forward to seeing all who attend and hope it’s a weekend to remember. For more information about the Son-Rise Cup , please call Allen Lewis on 01822 614335 or see www.sonrisecup.co.uk
Son Rise Cup Festival Youth Playing Rules
Introduction
Welcome! Below are the rules and regulations for you to read and understand yourself, and to pass on to your team prior to the start of the tournament. The competition will conform to the rules of mini soccer as well as the following amendments.
Team Requirements
During any particular fixture, a squad shall consist of up to 10 players with 7 playing at any one time, 1 of which shall be the goalkeeper. All players must wear shin pads when playing. All players will be required to wear the same colours (e.g. team strip or standard PE kit). However, the designated goalkeeper should wear a different colour.
Playing rules
Each game is to be played between two teams of seven players. An unlimited number of substitutes are allowed to roll on and off at any time, the referee must be notified of this. Each team may have a maximum of 10 players in their squad. The time of the games shall be a straight 10 minutes . (This depends on entries!) The referee will decide which team starts the game by a coin toss between the two opposing captains. After a goal is scored, play is restarted by the conceding team at the centre circle. The ball is allowed to be played overhead height. Goalkeepers can play the ball anywhere on the pitch, but are only allowed to handle the ball inside their goal area. Goal kicks are accepted . Attacking and defensive players are allowed to play the ball inside of the goal area. If the goalkeeper handles the ball outside the goal area a penalty kick shall be awarded. If a foul is committed by a defensive player inside the goal area this also constitutes a penalty kick. The back pass rule is in effect. The GK cannot pick the ball up if passed to by a teammate. There are no off sides. Normal throw ins. The size of the football used will depend on the age group. For an infringement of the rules all free kicks are direct , with the defending team having to stand 3 meters away from the ball. The competition will be on a league basis, but this will depend on the number of entries as a knock out round could be added if the number of teams warrants it. Teams will be allocated the following points: 5 points for a win 3 points for a draw 1 points for a loss Spirit of the Event
The emphasis for this particular competition is of the enjoyment of the players who will be participating. This is extremely important in ensuring football continues to develop in Devon.
Thank you to everyone who supports this fantastic event! Without the businesses of Tavistock it just would not happen! From the Son-Rise Cup Committee
