EGGESFORD GARDENS
Spring In The Garden
Everything seems to spring into life at this time of year and April marks the start of “the season” for many gardeners. It’s time to start planting in the veg garden and there is a great range of vegetable plants and seeds along with friendly help and advice available at Eggesford Gardens. April is also time to start planning your summer bedding displays. There are lots of lovely bedding plants in stock now but planting up hanging baskets and containers can be a big job, especially as they need to be kept under cover until May. Why not take advantage of Eggesford Gardens planting service – just order your containers or baskets in the style that you like and pick them up in May ready to go straight outside for a stunning display. Whether you are planting bountiful baskets, creating beautiful borders or designing perfect planters there is always a great selection of quality plants at Eggesford Gardens. Most of our plants are from growers based in Devon and the South West. Everything else you need is on hand too - from compost to containers, fertilisers to forks and wellies to wheel- barrows.
With the Gardens Restaurant serving everything from full meals through to tempting cream teas and well stocked shop selling great gift ideas and home accessories it is a great place to visit - even if you aren’t a keen gardener. Dogs and muddy boots are welcome!

REFURNISH TAVISTOCK
Refurnish have employed a new manager to revamp their Tavistock shop situated behind the recently closed Focus Do-it-all store. Refurnish is a local charity which collects unwanted reusable furniture, appliances and other household goods from the public, free of charge. Electrical items are professionally tested and repaired and then sold with a warranty and furniture only undergoes minor repairs. The shop is open to all however a 20% discount is given to anyone on benefits/low income.
The mission of Refurnish is to reduce household goods going to waste, help alleviate poverty by providing low cost goods to people on low income and create employment, work experience, training and volunteering opportunities for a wide range of people often with a mixture of support needs.
New manager Roger Bullingham said ‘My first priority has been to make sure the furniture and appliances are well presented in the shop, clearly and reasonably priced and customers are greeted and looked after when they come in the shop. Many customers have already commented on how much better the shop is. My next priority is to clean and paint the front of the shop and make it more welcoming. Some colourful plants would be nice. So if anyone would like to volunteer to help in any way either in the shop or to assist in decorating or revamping the building then please contact me on 01822 618822 or email Manager.Tavistock@refurnish.org.uk.’
