Tavistock Golf Club
Wednesday, 07 March 2012
In 1890 the Duke of Bedford gave permission to a small group of golfing enthusiasts to set out a ‘link’ of holes on Whitchurch Down. The initial membership consisted of 23 gentlemen but shortly afterwards 10 ladies were elected to the club. The course over the decades has undergone many changes - three clubhouses and four different course lay-outs! Today Tavistock Golf Club is one of the most spectacular and prestigious clubs in Devon. On Saturday March 24th Tavistock Golf Club will hold an OPEN DAY providing a great opportunity for golfers and non-golfers to play this great course. Experienced golfers will be able to enjoy the challenges that the course provides while those new to the game have the opportunity to be taught by the Club’s highly experienced club professionals. Age is no barrier. The Club has a thriving Junior Section whose ages range from 7 to 18. For those over 60 there are large and very active Men and Ladies Senior Sections. But there is more to Tavistock Golf Club than just golf! The Club has much to offer the non- golfer - excellent food, all day catering at club prices, open seven days a week, a busy social calendar or the ideal place for a coffee and a quiet lunch or dinner. Come to the Open Day find out more! Two Sessions are planned - 10.00 am and 2.30 pm. For the beginner FREE taster lessons, for the golfer a FREE round of golf and, for the youngsters, FREE taster lessons under the guidance of the Junior Organisers and the club professional. To become a Social Member come along and find out the benefits the club has to offer you. PLUS the chance to join the club on exceptional terms for both golfing and social membership.
Contact the Club Secretary on 01822 612344 or e-mail info@tavistockgolfclub.co.uk for more information and to book places on either of the Sessions.
