Tuesday 14th February Wear It Red Day
This Valentine’s Day-February 14th local charity HeartSWell South West are holding their seventh ‘Wear it RED Day’ and would like as many people as possible, once again, to take part in this fun annual event. Since 2006 Wear it RED has raised over £7000 and the charity hopes to dramatically increase this amount in 2012. The suggested contribution is £1.00 to ‘Wear it RED’ but a fine of £2.00 if you don’t participate because ‘your heart’s not in it’. Other ideas include fancy dress pub crawls, dinner party, ladies pamper evening, valentine’s post box, themed office buffet lunch………… Several stall holders at Tavistock Pannier Market who have taken part in the past and have raised a total of £1224 to date will be taking part in their ‘Wear it RED Day’ on Tuesday 14th February. Committed to supporting heart sufferers, their partners and their carers in the South West, HeartSWell South West also………. • Raises funds for the purchase of vital cardiac equipment for the South West Cardiothoracic Centre at Derriford Hospital. • Provides information booklets for cardiac patients. • Funds a specialist cardiac GUCH (Grown up Congenital Heart) nurse at Derriford Hospital. • Awards training grants to cardiac nurses. • Owns HeartSWell Lodge accommodation adjacent to the hospital.
Hundreds of people across the region have already decided to take part in the 2012 day. If you’re not one of them it’s not too late to get involved!
