A GRIPPING road safety message by a Tavistock tyre retailer has won the company a national award.

For the fourth consecutive year, Tavistock Tyres has won a National Safety Award for its efforts in promoting tyre safety.

Tavistock Tyres is part of the Protyre network, with Protyre named as the UK’s Retailer of the Year at the National TyreSafe awards.

The win promotes its commitment to raising awareness of tyre safety and the dangers of poorly maintained or part worn tyres.

TyreSafe chairman Stuart Jackson said: ‘Retailers play an important role in spreading the tyre safety message as they are in daily contact with motorists.

‘Protyre plays a pivotal role in TyreSafe’s success and in 2016 demonstrated once again their support and commitment to our charity and our message.’

Simon Hiorns, Protyre’s retail director, said: ‘The TyreSafe awards are a great way to recognise the contributions that individual garages have made towards the cause of tyre safety.

‘We all have a duty to educate and promote safer driving and I am delighted that the work we have done to communicate the TyreSafe message with our customers and the general public as a whole has been recognised through the awards.

‘TyreSafe’s philosophy underpins one of the key values in Protyre which is to offer professional advice, make the right recommendation and improve road safety.

‘Our dealer network is vital to our success as a business. Their dedication to tyre safety is admirable and we are looking forward to working closely with our network in 2018.’

Protyre plans for this year, to continue its commitment to road safety for its customers and the public.

TyreSafe is a registered charity and its awards event is attended by key members of the tyre industry, fire service, police service and highways agency.
