ERME Vally Harriers hosted their annual relay competition at Ivybridge on Friday.
The popular race in the local running fraternity is run over a tough, hilly 2.5m road course and this year there were a record 120 finishing teams.
Tavistock Athletic Club juniors, who all usually run in the under 15 category, entered a team in the junior section, which meant that they would be racing against all ages up to 18.
However, not fearing the opposition Will Russell took on the fast first leg and ran an excellent 14 minutes 27 seconds before handing on to Dan Luckham who consolidated with a strong 15 minutes 30 seconds leg.
The next runner was Joe Dix who continued the teams’ good form with a time of 16.18 and there was little sight of the second junior team as Ollie Woodmason took on the fourth and final leg. The work had all been done to see off the opposition and Ollie cruised around for a 15.05 leg and victory for the TAC juniors.
Not only did they finish first junior team they were 17th overall out of 120 teams.
