TAVISTOCK Carnival week, organised by the Lions Club, started off last Friday with a highly successful Ceilidh in the town hall with dancing to local group ‘Under the Moon.

The baby show on the Saturday morning was well attended with the under ones age group being won by three-month old Juliette York with 18-month old Amelia Walker winning the one to two year age group.

Entertainment around the town organised by Tavistock Edge was also highly popular and well attended especially in The Bedford Hotel garden.

Sunday brought large crowds down to The Meadows for the ever popular Lions fun day which included the dog show, demonstrations of martial arts by TAGB Taekwon-do and duck herding with sheep dogs which kept the audience highly entertained.

There was music from Blowzone plus the crowning of this year’s carnival princess Ella Baker with her attendants Lila Kingsland and Imogen Roots.

The afternoon concluded with the duck race along a very slow moving canal.

Carnival week culminates with the carnival procession today (Saturday) at 6.30pm.
