THERE was an excellent turnout of 45 riders for Tavistock Wheelers Go Ride Cyclo cross race at Lewtrenchard School.

These included 20 girls and 18 boys who had never raced before.

Go Ride is British Cycling’s entry level form of racing and cyclocross is off road, in this case on grass.

There were wins for Jamie Young, Boseley Cross School; Lydia Stone, Mount Kelly; Ryan Kingdon, Lewtrenchard School; Orla Maguire, Whitchurch School; Ewan Dix, St Peter’s and Joe Dix and Rosie Andrews, both Tavistock College.

The race successes illustrate the growth of Tavistock Wheelers Go Ride, which provides safe off bike sessions for 9-14 years old.

There is currently a waiting list but further information can be found at Tavistock Wheelers Youth Cycling Facebook page.
